A writer is an exceptional communications professional responsible for transforming medical and industry-specific content into a wide range of compelling communications materials. The writer is also responsible for maintaining a consistent application of message across a variety of communications channels.
Reporting to the Creative Director and working closely with the creative, client and account management teams, the Medical Copywriter ensures creative solutions are delivered per client expectation while meeting internal and external marketing and regulatory compliance standards. The ideal candidate will display passion and curiosity about new opportunities and techniques that are grounded by classical training and experience.

Duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for delivering well-designed, strategic creative solutions for pharmaceutical clients such as core creative concepts, sales aids, leave behinds, patient and consumer education material, sales training guides, etc., which may include a range of integrated marketing components including print, digital (tablet and iPAD media, websites, search and digital ad copy), direct mail, and promotional advertising.
• Responsible for originating creative written concepts, copy and references that support the creative brief.
• Research, write, edit and proofread copy throughout the lifecycle of the project
• Provide well referenced copy with complete balancing copy when required
• Present creative solutions to clients.
• Work with the Creative Director in identifying creative resource requirements
• Edit copy based on account, client, med/reg/legal and PAAB/ASC feedback
• Provide support on PAAB negotiations
• Work closely with the Account Team to understand all client business requirements.
• Lead and / or contribute to brainstorming initiatives and gathering ideas to support the team’s creative delivery.
• Lead, direct and mentor Jr creative talent in a healthcare capacity
• Ensure an integrated and consistent message across all tactics and channels, as required.
• Comply with all AODA regulations and requirements
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures including health and safety

• University degree preferably in Science
• Minimum 5 years of medical copywriting experience in an agency setting
• A portfolio that clearly demonstrates a wide range of produced communications materials in pharmaceutical marketing including sales aids, professional and consumer advertising, patient material, disease education and awareness communications, and other related communications for print and digital media
• Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills
• Clear, concise and factual writing
• Familiar with clinical studies and product monographs and experienced in translating clinical data into key brand messages
• In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical marketing and pharmaceutical industry
• Strong understanding of PAAB guidelines, IMC Code of Conduct, Food and Drugs Act
and other relevant regulatory requirements within the pharmaceutical marketing
• Team player - able to collaborate with all levels of internal and external partners
• Strong conceptual skills
• Strong ability to articulate a point of view as a strategic problem solver
• Able to work with, direct and mentor junior creative talent
