The Associate works day-to-day on their assigned brands and is expected to support the outputs and deliverables as directed by their managers. The Associate must understand the client’s brand and marketing objectives and steward a large portion of the tactical planning process. The Associate provides recommendations that meet client objectives using factual analytical rigor, research and judgement. The Associate must manage timelines and deliverables while keeping their managers apprised of progress and challenges. The Associate is expected to have a strong desire to learn and appropriate working knowledge of all media channels especially digital. They should have mastery of available media research, resources and tools (both media and inter-department). The Associate may be asked to contribute to the business or support new business.




Team Management

Help train the Assistant Media Planner by ensuring they are set up with the appropriate programs and files and that deadlines are clear and feasible

Budget and Billing

Partner with Assistant Media Planner to ensure budget/billing documents are complete and accurate, analyze and review competitive reports as well as ensures that flowcharts are up-to-date

Media Strategy

Own target analysis & immersion and review media plans and recommendations with AMD prior to presenting to GMD, account teams and clients

New Business

Prepare and participate in new business presentations explaining the media department’s function in a clear and concise manner to potential and/or current clients




Media Planning and Execution:
• Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring media plans and campaigns across assigned brands including maintaining accurate documentation (especially financial) and plan evolutions of requested and recommended revisions
• Authors documents related to the plan (i.e., media briefs, RFPs recommendations, etc.)
• Identify target audiences and analyze their characteristics, behaviors and media habits
• Recommends most appropriate tactics/partners to fulfill client/plan objectives and KPIs with supporting rationale and measurement plan
• Assists in developing buying strategies to maximizing media value and impact while supporting media negotiations
• Compiles and provides digital specs to creative teams (client specific)
• Creates and maintains flowcharts and issues/maintains media buy authorizations, budgets and spend summaries
• Ensures appropriate QA is conducted and monitored throughout campaign identifying and elevating issues
• Understands intricacies of various tracking/targeting services holding partners accountable for performance improvement
• Works in conjunction with Assistant on billing and invoicing to maintain consistent process keeping abreast of all invoice, billing and delivery issues; knows when to escalate discrepancies
• Works collaboratively with Assistant and/or Data Analyst to cleanse data and develop performance reports based on client scoped cadence; analyses of all required variables including but not limited to segment, platform, vendor/partner, unit, creative, etc. drawing implications that impact go-forward plans
• Writes POVs as needed and evaluate new technology, innovation and/or opportunities

Client & Internal Relationships:
• Supports or manages day-to-day client interactions while building credibility and being responsive
• Helps manages client expectations and deliverables
• Oversees training and development of Assistant
• Works closely with the teams (Analytics, Account, Ad Ops) to improve performance and resolve issues including but not limited to tagging, tracking and brand safety
• Participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face client and vendor meetings
• Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for Assistants

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:
• Works with management team (Supervisor/AD/Media Director) to support development of media plans/buy strategies
• Shares new and relevant opportunities in written and verbal form to the group or client
• Strategizes ways to most effectively use dollars to the clients’ greatest benefit
• Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
• Proactively resolves issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
• Provides training and guidance to new team members and nurtures/promotes team environment
• Works with Supervisor to develop management skills while overseeing and training junior staff
• Excels at time management, assuring projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget
• May be responsible for contributing to accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
• Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them

Communications Skills:
• Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
• Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
• Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
• Develop client documents that are clear, compelling and persuasive
• Ensures key information is provided to team supervisor and leads regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Microsoft Office

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Microsoft Excel

Proficient in advanced functions and formulas to perform VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, graphs and data capture

Media Tools

Proficiency in media tools including KANTAR, eValient, SRDS, MBOX – Level II




Creates clear goals, identifies and finds the resources (e.g. time, people, materials) needed to achieve them, and schedules tasks so that work is completed on time


Is attentive and shows interest in the subject; Expresses ideas clearly and accurately
