Job Overview

Reporting to the VP, Director of IT Infrastructure & Web Operations, the Manager, IT Infrastructure & Web Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of one or more enterprise technology systems essential to the core business functions. The Manager, IT Infrastructure & Web Operations acts as a technical resource to the staff assisting in the operational support of the current computing environment and implementation of technology initiatives that align with the Agency’s overall strategic plan and its commitment to its staff, its clients, and its communities. S/He will also be assisting in resource management across the Engineering team.  Qualified candidates will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis and be able to demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Core responsibilities

•             Manage the day-to-day resource management of the engineering team.

•             Maintain the current hybrid infrastructure consisting of on prem servers and storage, and cloud hosted environments.

•             Build new and maintain existing documentation of standard operating procedures leading to knowledge transfer to the entire team.

•             Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

•             Review and test custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.

•             Participate in the design of information and operational support systems with vendors and various department leads.

•             Implement and enforce policy and procedures to ensure the protection of company’s IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the company.

•             Lead audits & security reviews, providing required IT documentation and/or information.

•             Be an integral part of continually improving our infrastructure architecture as technology, industry standards, and best practices continue to evolve.

•             Maintain a fleet of containerized applications, managing deployments, uptime, cost, and security.

•             Review CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Gitlab CI/CD, Azure DevOps and AWS Deploy.

•             Create infrastructure templates and supporting scripts to help automate deployment, backup, failover, and other core processes.

•             Participate in client meetings with Integrated Producers and Development teams for new and ongoing digital development projects, representing the DevOps unit.

•             Purchase Order and Invoice management with Procurement and Finance.


The ideal person

•             Hands on supervisor who will, not only assign tasks, but able and willing to work independently and cooperatively with the team.

•             Has the ability to multitask and be able to articulate verbally and in writing process and instructions to staff.

•             Must have experience implementing and managing Windows Server (2012 and later).

•             Has a broad knowledge profile when it comes to web application architecture and infrastructure, and really excels in areas such as Linux scripting, AWS Cloud, Networking, and Containerization.

•             Has experience designing and executing small to medium scale systems automation projects with strong autonomy.

•             Is comfortable with production systems and technologies, for ex. load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and configuration management.

•             Is familiar with and enthusiastic about software engineering best practices such as testing, automation, CI and CD.

•             Has a passion for solving and owning problems until resolution.

•             Willing to be on call 24x7, if needed.


•             7+ years experience in similar roles.

•             Implementing and managing medium to large Storage Area Network systems.

•             Virtualization technology such as VMWare and Hyper-V.

•             Knowledge of AWS core features, including EC2, ELB, VPC, S3, SES, etc.

•             CI/CD Pipeline and Automation experience.

•             Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as Powershell, Bash and Python.

•             Working knowledge of maintaining and improving the security posture of various environments, on-prem and cloud.

•             Microsoft Azure experience is a must.
