Studio RX _Director of IT

Job Summary:

The Director of IT manages the technical needs of our fast-paced, deadline-driven creative studio, ensuring our technical infrastructure is maintained for optimal performance. This role requires someone proactive as well as collaborative, and comfortable working with staff across creative disciplines.

 

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage the technical infrastructure of our global studio network, both on-site and virtual, as it relates to workflows across various systems - servers, workstations (Mac OS and Windows), render farms, active directory, etc. Maintain/troubleshoot ongoing technical workflow challenges. Recommend solutions. Resolve issues.
  • Provide daily hardware/software technical support to the Studio Rx team of Creatives, Animators, Illustrators, Editors, Audio Engineer, XR Developers, CG and 3D artists.
  • Install, deploy, troubleshoot hardware/software tools - Adobe Creative Cloud, Editshare (server), Flow, Jump Desktop, Maya, Cinema 4D, Nuke Thinkbox, AWS Deadline, and more.
  • Set up, configure, maintain workstations - on-site, off-site, virtual.
  • Integrate technical structure and tools amongst global studio locations.
  • Upgrade and configure infrastructure systems and software as needed.
  • Manage hardware/software inventory.
  • Knowledgably communicate and collaborate with broader network IT team.
  • Keep up with current tech trends.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the post-production world and operating systems, standard applications, computer hardware solutions, file formats, codecs, video standards, and their strengths, weaknesses, and peculiarities.
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following (and more!) – Editshare, Avid Media Composer, Cinema4D, Real-time graphics, GPU rendering, Unreal Engine, Unity, AWS/GCP concepts and workflows.
  • Production pipeline knowledge of standard CG, compositing, and VFX applications (Maya, C4D, Nuke, Houdini).
  • Experience with scale deployment (render farms, cloud render farms, license server management).
  • Audio and video routing systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of archiving – cloud solutions
  • Excellent communication, people skills, team working skills.
  • 6+ years of experience in a post-production studio.
