JOB SUMMARY

The Media Planner serves as a pivotal point of contact within the Media team to complete deliverables that include but are not limited to: pulling weekly and monthly data from DFA (DART); cleaning and pivoting data and creating traffic workbook across all indications as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Team Management

Help train the Assistant Media Planner by ensuring they are set up with the appropriate programs and files and that deadlines are clear and feasible

 

Budget and Billing

Partner with Assistant Media Planner to ensure budget/billing documents are complete and accurate, analyze and review competitive reports as well as ensures that flowcharts are up-to-date

 

Media Strategy

Own target analysis & immersion and review media plans and recommendations with AMD prior to presenting to GMD, account teams and clients

 

New Business

Prepare and participate in new business presentations explaining the media department’s function in a clear and concise manner to potential and/or current clients

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Comments

Team Management:

 

• Help develop the media skills and knowledge base of Assistant Media Planner/Planner.

 

--> Schedule either formal and/or provide on-the-job training on tools (KANTAR, eValient, SRDS, MBOX).

 

--> Teach Media 101 to new Assistant Media Planners.

 

--> Ensure new Assistant Media Planners are set up on the right programs, files, etc.

 

• Work closely with Assistant Media Planner to ensure expectations and deadlines are clear and feasible.

 

 

 

Day-to-Day Projects:

 

• Competitive.

 

--> Analyze and prepare competitive reports - review with AMD prior to issuing.

 

• Budget/Billing.

 

--> Partner with/oversee AMP to ensure the budget/billing documents are complete and accurate.

 

--> Issue documents on a timely basis.

 

--> Schedule monthly or quarterly budget/billing calls with client and take lead to ensure all parties reflect the same information.

 

--> Manage all discrepancies and seek assistance from Associate Media Director and share responsibility with GMD when necessary (e.g. Online or Print discrepancy).

 

• Plans/Flowcharts.

 

--> Planners and Supervisors are responsible for knowing the intricacies of the plan flighting, spending, targeting, creative rotation, savings, plan changes.

 

--> Ensure flowcharts are always up-to-date with right cost/activity/levels and they are issued internally and to Clients on a timely basis.

 

• Obtain all cost information from vendors (work with AMP to input into legible chart for team use).

 

• Take lead on drafting POV’s.

 

• Own recap/next step emails following all status calls and client meetings.

 

• Demonstrate pro-activity and foresight in what is needed beyond the above tasks.

• Own target analysis and immersion.

 

• Review media plans and recommendations with AMD prior to presenting to GMD, account teams and clients.

Proficient in advanced functions and formulas to perform VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, graphs and data capture

 

Media Tools

Proficiency in media tools including KANTAR, eValient, SRDS, MBOX – Level II
