JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for ensuring exceptional quality in all editorial work. The Editorial Director manages and supervises the entire in-house editorial staff as well as freelance editors.

Editorial Process

Works with Editorial management team to review, refine, and enforce all departmental and agency-level processes.

 

 

Resource Management

Ensures that all assignments are properly staffed.

 

 

Staffing

Participates in interviewing and hiring process to ensure finding a right fit and talent.

Team Management & Development

Onboards new staff to ensure a smooth transition. Supervise direct reports and manage their performance reviews. Provide coaching and mentoring as needed.

 

 

Client Management

Serves as a client-facing liaison in presentations

 

Project Management

Ensure timely completion of projects in partnership with internal functions and in regards to editorial budget

 

 

Compliance

Helps ensuring and enforcing compliance with OPDP/regulatory guidelines

 

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Assists SVP in reviewing, refining, creating, and enforcing all departmental processes for consistency across the network.

• Manages and supervises entire editorial staff; maintains editorial standards and process.

• Identifies areas of staff development and process improvement and proposes action plans.

• Works with senior agency stakeholders and editorial management to ensure adequate staffing and adherence to/development of best practices on a client-by-client basis.

• Participates in agency orientations for both new agency staff and clients.

• Conducts FDA seminars and referencing/annotating workshops as needed.

• Ensures that salary increase recommendations are made in a timely fashion.

• Ensures adequate staffing/editorial coverage.

-Secures freelance support as needed.

-Reviews and provides feedback on annual SOWs for agency accounts.

• Routinely conducts group meetings and one-on-ones with direct reports.

• Works with other Editorial Managers to coordinate coverage across department.

• Enforces OPDP/regulatory guidelines.

• Spot checks freelancers’/junior staff’s work.

• Mentors junior staff to ensure core editorial competencies are achieved and maintained.

• Provides training and guidance for direct reports.

• Works with new hires to ensure acclimation to agency and departmental process and assigned brands.

• Interfaces with integrated production, account, and creative departments to ensure timely completion of projects.

• Identifies problem areas and generates and implements solutions.

• Serves as liaison with client counterpart as needed.

• Leads interviewing and hiring of editorial staff.

• Maintains records on reports’ performance, and composes and conducts performance reviews for direct reports.

• Reviews and provides feedback on department performance reviews.

• Serves as process/information resource for all new business initiatives (presentation decks,
concepts, branding materials); leads or delegates coverage of new business needs.

• Help coordinate support across network editorial departments while avoiding business conflicts.

• Perform other related duties as required and assigned by SVP.
